New Yorkers Reveal The Wildest Things They've Done For Love

New York is a city that's known to be the setting for a whole lot of rom-coms. Growing up on these rom-coms made us believe that NYC was a big city with tons of love to offer. Now that we're big girls, we're wondering if that's actually true, or if all that city has to offer is trash. We know there's actual trash littering the streets of New York City, but when we say trash in this context, we mean what the dating pool looks like over there. Is it just like the movies promised it would be, or is it all one major Hollywood scheme? Let's find out! Lucky for us, Overheard NY, an iconic Instagram account that gathers all the hilarious conversations overheard in New York City, compiled a list of all the crazy things New Yorkers have done for love, and some actually made us feel like we were living out our rom-com dreams.

    Font - There was a guy who I had been flirting with at whole foods (lol) for MONTHS. I saw him taking inventory one day so I went over to him and asked if I could borrow his pen. Then I took the clipboard out of his hands, wrote my number on it, gave it back to him, and walked away I was on so much adrenaline that I literally walked out of the store without paying

    Rectangle - I saw a guy in the elevator of my building holding a cookbook. I never made the first move but I struck up a convo with him and he delivered cookies to me later that day! I returned his plate with my number on a post-it note. Ten years later we're still together, and getting married in July! And yes, he still has the post-it.

    Font - I was 20 years old and my boyfriend of less than a year went on a 6 months trip to South America. We were gonna try to make it work long distance, but this was back in 2011 - pre wifi everywhere so it was extra challenging. I wanted to give him something to remember me by so I got a pic of myself in lingerie and printed it on a tshirt for him to wear on the trip. I still can't believe I did that, but we've been married for +7 years now and just had our 2nd baby, so I guess it worked!
